Scenario: While house clearing, you see only the foot of the next threat
around a corner.

Type: short, 12-yd combat fragment
Procedure: Start with pistol at retention. On signal, engage PP1 until
it falls. Then advance on T4 and engage with 1 head shot.
Props: 5ft T4-angledLeft, small steel PP1; yard line
Name: West Side Precinct
Scoring: 12 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets
Scenario: While doing paperwork at your desk, two armed intruders
attack your co-workers.
Designer: S Tod
Type: medium, 15--10 yd tactical cover drill
Procedure: Start with palms on the desktop. At the signal, remain seated
and engage T1-T2 with 3 shots each. Perform any IDPA
reload, move to barrel, and re-engage with 3 shots each.
Props: 5ft T1-shirt, 4ft T2-shirt; desk, chair, (double)barrel
Name: Knife to a Gunfight
Scoring: 5 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets; concealment required
Scenario: Two druggies are looking to fund their habit. Both pull
edged weapons and start to adance. The first is so stoned
that 2 body hits don't take him down.
Designer: Jim Higginbotham (2006/1999 Nationals, Stage 5)
Type: short, 5--10yd moving-to-cover exercise
Procedure: On signal, retreat toward cover, engaging T1-T2 with 2 shots
each. From cover, re-engage T1 with 1 round to the head.
Props: 5ft T1-shirt, 4ft T2-shirt, (double)barrel; yard line
Name: I Wasn't Going to Die There
Scoring: 14 shots Vickers, on 2 IDPA targets
Scenario: You are Orange County (Fla.) Deputy Sheriff Jennifer Fulford
in a shootout with 2 kidnappers in a garage. Ricochets hit you
in the right knee and the left ankle, thigh, and buttock; then
you are hit in your shooting shoulder.
Designer: S Tod (as reported in Glock Autopistols 2006)
Type: long, 4-yd combat exercise
Procedure: Pistol and spare mags/loaders loaded with max. 6 rounds
each: On signal, engage one threat with 6 rounds.
Dropping to both knees, reload and engage the other with 6.
Reload and re-engage either threat with 2 rounds to the head
weak-hand only. (If the shooter has been trained, like Deputy
Fulford, in weak-hand reloading, they may do so.)
Props: 4ft T1-left, 5ft T2; 2 double-barrels
Name: Movie Madness
Scoring: 5 shots Limited, on 3 IDPA targets; concealment required
Scenario: You are leaving the movie theater with your significant other
when you're attacked by 3 gang thugs. One of them takes
your SO hostage.
Designer: Robert Ray (2006 Nationals, BUG Challenge)
Type: short, 2--5 yd BUG exercise
Procedure: On signal, engage T1-T2 with 2 rounds each, then engage T3
with 1 round to the head.
Props: 4ft T1-left, 5ft T2; 6ft T3 w/Non-Threat
Name: Protection Failure Drill
Scoring: 6 shots Vickers, on 1 IDPA target; concealment required
Scenario: While out getting ice cream with your child, you are
confronted by a parolee looking for an easy mark.
Designer: Mark M.
Type: short, 3-yd one-hand drill
Procedure: Start facing child with max. 6 rounds, ice cream cone in
strong hand. At signal, move between NT and T1, engage T1
with 5 shots to the body and 1 to the head one-hand only
while guarding your child with your weak hand.
Props: 6ft T1-shirt, Non-Threat; ice cream cone
Name: V-Shaped Moving
Scoring: 12 shots Limited, on 3 IDPA targets
Scenario: (moving standard)
Designer: S Tod
Type: medium, 4--12 yds, IDPA-Classifier variation
Procedure: String 1: Start facing Non-Threat. At signal, retreat towards
barrel while engaging T1 with 6 rounds.
Reload off the clock.
String 2: Start standing behind barrel. At signal, advance
towards T2 and T3 while engaging each with 2 rounds to the
body and 1 to the head.
Props: 6ft T1-shirt, Non-Threat; barrel;
4ft T2-left, double-barrel, 5ft T3-right
