A Non-Resident Pakistani is defined as an individual who:

  • Has not stayed in Pakistan for 183 days or more during the tax year

  • Is not employed by the Federal or Provincial Government in Pakistan during the tax year
    (Reference: Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 – Chapter 5, Division II, Section 82)

Required Documents for NRP Biometric Verification:

  • Signed Undertaking (Annexure-A)

  • Proof of NRP status (e.g., valid passport, visa, exit stamp, resident permit)

  • Copy of valid ID document (CNIC/SNIC/NICOP)

  • Customer’s account number(s) maintained with the bank

Customers temporarily outside Pakistan for valid reasons and unable to visit for biometric verification must submit:

  • Reasonable proof of stay abroad (passport, visa, exit stamp, etc.)

  • A Customer Letter stating reason for absence and expected date of return

Where one account holder is outside Pakistan (temporarily or as an NRP):

  • Biometric verification shall be conducted individually as per the status of each joint account holder

  • If one holder is NRP or temporarily abroad, procedures under (1) or (2) above will apply accordingly
