In these Terms and Conditions:

  • “Account” means the bank account held or to be held with the Bank in the name of the Cardholder (whether solely or jointly with another person), the number of which is or shall be specified in the application form for the Card and communicated to the Cardholder as appropriate.

  • “Bank” means Allied Bank Limited.

  • “Branch” means the branch of Allied Bank Limited that holds the Cardholder’s Account.

  • “Card” means the Allied Visa Debit Card, including any replacement of the Card.

  • “Cardholder” means the person to whom the Card is issued and who has the sole authority to operate the Account in accordance with the Bank’s mandate.

  • “PIN” means the Personal Identification Number or an encrypted number, which the Cardholder uses from time to time with the Card. It includes the Telephone Personal Identification Number (TPIN), where the context so permits.

  • “OTP” means the six-digit One-Time Password sent to the customer’s mobile number or email address registered with Allied Bank at the time of online transactions.

  • “Transaction” means any cash withdrawal or payment made using the Card or Biometric authentication, or any refund arising in connection with the use of the Card or Biometric system, in any authorised manner for debit or credit to the Account.

  • “e-Commerce” means the act of making payments for online purchases. It refers to electronic commerce and includes both Internet and mobile commerce.

  • “VISA” means Visa International Service Association.

  • “Biometric” means access to the ATM using a thumb impression.

The Card or Biometric feature may be used to withdraw money at any Automated Teller Machine (ATM) or to access additional banking services offered through the ATMs (e.g., fund transfers within the Bank or to other banks in Pakistan, or payment of utility and other bills).

The Card may also be used for the payment of goods and/or services—whether through online/e-Commerce platforms or at retail outlets or suppliers worldwide—where the VISA Plus sign is displayed and the Card is accepted, subject to compliance with VISA rules and regulations as applicable from time to time.

The Cardholder may also avail themselves of other Digital Banking services in accordance with the Bank’s mandate. These services include, but are not limited to, Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, SMS Banking, IVR facilities, and any other payment services/facilities which the Bank may offer from time to time. These services will be made available to Cardholders who sign up or opt in through the Bank’s prevailing procedures. The Bank will activate Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) services only for those instruments and channels for which the customer’s consent has been obtained.

If the Cardholder uses the Card for payments in foreign currency (such as transactions outside Pakistan, including ATM withdrawals, point-of-sale purchases, and e-Commerce transactions), they will be liable for currency conversion charges, service fees, and applicable taxes, all of which will be charged upfront at the time of the transaction. The Bank makes no warranty nor assumes any responsibility for any limitations on foreign exchange availability, whether due to the State Bank of Pakistan or any other authority.

The Bank will issue a Card only after the Cardholder has duly completed the application form, agreed to these Terms and Conditions, as well as the Terms and Conditions applicable to bank accounts, and the application has been accepted by the Bank. Opening and maintaining an account with the Bank is a prerequisite for issuance and use of the Card or Biometric facility.

The Card remains the property of the Bank. The Bank, or any authorised officer, employee, associate, or agent thereof, may retain the Card, require the Cardholder to return it, or suspend its use at any time, at the Bank’s absolute discretion. The Bank shall not be liable for any loss incurred by the Cardholder as a result of such action.

The Card is strictly non-transferable and must not be used by anyone other than the Cardholder. If the Card is surrendered or retained by the Bank, the associated Biometric facility may also be suspended.

The Card will not become valid or operational until the Cardholder acknowledges receipt and accepts the Terms and Conditions. It must then be activated via the method specified by the Bank.

The Card is valid only for the period indicated on it and must not be used beyond that period or if the Bank has issued a written notice requiring its return. Upon expiry, the Card must be destroyed by cutting it in half through the magnetic strip.

Biometric usage requires prior activation of the Card.

The e-Commerce facility is pre-activated on all Visa Debit Cards. Customers who wish to deactivate this feature must call the Allied Bank Helpline at 042-111-225-225.

The Cardholder must take all reasonable precautions to prevent unauthorised use of the Card and PIN. If the Card is lost or stolen, the Cardholder must immediately notify the Bank via the designated contact numbers and confirm the loss in writing without delay.

Until such notice is received by the Bank, the Cardholder shall be liable for all transactions.

The Cardholder must fully cooperate with the Bank’s personnel and/or law enforcement agencies in recovering the lost or stolen Card. The Bank may disclose relevant information if it deems it necessary to prevent or recover losses. If the Card is found after a loss has been reported, it must not be used and should be returned to the Bank after being destroyed by cutting through the magnetic strip.

At the Cardholder’s request, the Bank will issue a Personal Identification Number (PIN). Upon receipt, the Cardholder must take all reasonable precautions to safeguard the PIN and promptly destroy the PIN mailer.

The Cardholder agrees:

  • not to disclose the PIN to anyone,

  • never to write the PIN on the Card or any item usually kept with it,

  • never to record the PIN in a form that may be easily understood by others,

  • and to notify the Bank immediately if the PIN is known or suspected to be known by someone else.

If the Card and PIN are lost or stolen together, and the PIN was not secured as required, the Cardholder shall be liable for all PIN-related transactions. Similarly, if the Cardholder voluntarily discloses the PIN, they shall be liable for all subsequent PIN-related transactions.
