What the Allied Salary Management Account is

It is a family of four salary accounts, not a single account. All four are built around one job: receiving your monthly salary.

What sets it apart is who can open it. The account is linked to a salary management agreement between an organisation and Allied Bank. Employees on payroll under that agreement are eligible.

That makes it different from an account you open on your own. The agreement comes first, and the account follows.

Who can open it

Eligibility is the same for all four variants.

Eligible:
salaried persons who are employees on payroll under a salary management agreement.
Not eligible:
firms, and other individuals.

Every variant uses the same two salary tiers. Allied Bank set out what changes between them:

Tier What it includes
Tier 1 Minimum monthly salary: Rs 18,000
Debit card limits: Allied UnionPay PayPak co-badged debit card, and its Asaan variant
Online charges: Within city: 2 deposits and 2 withdrawals free. Intercity transactions as per the Schedule of Charges
Tier 2 Minimum monthly salary: Rs 25,000
Debit card limits: As per the card variant
Online charges: Free within city. Five intercity transactions free of each type: cash withdrawal, deposit and transfer
The quickest way to know whether you qualify
is to ask your HR or payroll team. Ask whether your organisation has a salary management agreement with Allied Bank.

The four variants at a glance

All four variants serve the same employees. They differ in how the account works, and in what comes with it.

A maximum credit balance of Rs 3 million.
Two choices lead to the right variant:
current or saving, and regular or Asaan.

Regular or Asaan: the simplified variants

“Asaan” means easy in Urdu. At Allied Bank, it is a simplified account category, designed for account opening with minimal documentation.

The Asaan variants in this family carry limits:

Asaan Current
A credit limit of Rs 3,000,000, and debit turnover of up to Rs 1,000,000 a month.
Asaan Saving
A maximum credit balance of Rs 3 million.
Debit turnover
is the total that leaves the account in a month.
A maximum credit balance
is the most the account can hold.
Choose an Asaan variant if the simplified category suits you, and your balance and monthly spending sit well inside these limits. If they may not, ask the branch whether a regular variant suits you better.

The debit card

Every variant offers a UnionPay PayPak co-badged debit card. Co-badged means the card carries two payment networks: UnionPay and PayPak.

The card works wherever UnionPay and PayPak are accepted, in Pakistan and internationally. That covers shop payments, online shopping and ATM withdrawals. The Classic card is also contactless, so you can pay at NFC-enabled terminals without handing it over.

What the card costs depends on the variant:

Variant Card
Current The UnionPay PayPak Classic card is free for life.
Asaan Current Comes with the Asaan variant of the card.
Saving and Asaan Saving Issuance follows the Schedule of Charges.

How to open the account

1Check eligibility with HR.
Ask whether your organisation has a salary management agreement with Allied Bank. Only employees on payroll under it can open this account.

2Check your tier.
Tier 1 covers a monthly salary of Rs 18,000 to Rs 25,000. Tier 2 covers anything above Rs 25,000.

3Choose your variant.
Current or Saving, regular or Asaan, using the two choices above.

4Have your details ready, including your next of kin.
Accounts opened in bulk use Allied Bank’s template. It collects the details needed for eKYC (electronic Know Your Customer), and next of kin is one of them.

5Open the account.
Your employer can have it opened in bulk with other staff. It cannot be opened jointly, so each employee holds their own account.

6Share your account number or IBAN with HR, so your salary is credited to it.

For employers

The account reaches staff through their employer’s salary management agreement with Allied Bank. Firms cannot open the account themselves. It is for the employees on the payroll.

Allied Bank can open your employees’ accounts in bulk. The facility covers Salary Management Accounts and Asaan accounts, and it keeps payroll set-up quick.

Employee details go into a template.
Your branch uses the latest version of Allied Bank’s bulk account opening template.
The template asks for eKYC details.
Since eKYC was introduced, it collects new details from each employee. Next of kin is one of them.

What Allied Bank needs to set it up. The documents depend on the variant:

Variant Documents
Asaan variant Employee CNICs, the employer agreement, and other supporting documents.
Regular variant Employee CNICs, the employee’s written request for account opening (proof of income), the organisation’s agreement, and other supporting documents.
A salary management agreement needs a minimum of 50 employees.

If your organisation wants to offer the account to staff, contact any Allied Bank branch.
